An Overview on Traveling to Alicante
Spain is a country in the Iberian peninsula jutting off in southwestern Europe. It is also composed of the outlying Isla Baleares ( Balearic Islands ) in the Mediterranean, the largest island Mallorca off the eastern coast of the Islas Canarias (Canary Islands) dotting the Atlantic nearly five hundred miles off east of the Moroccan coastline. In Africa, there’s also the Spanish enclaves of Mellila and Cueta.
This country is one of the worlds leading destinations for package holiday tours. But there is more to see in this country than their beaches and islands that travelers would want to see. There’s the historic urban landscape of Madrid and also historic towns and cities such as Alicante.
Traveling to Alicante and other Spanish province and cities shouldn’t be difficult as mainland Spain is served by thirty one airports. Access points include major cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, Pamplona and Bilbao. The cities of El Hierro, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote in the Canaries and Ibiza and Mallorca in the Balearics all have airports. The British colony of Gibraltar in southern Spain is also served by an airport with daily flights covered by British Airways and Monarch from different departure points from the United Kingdom. Scheduled flights to Spain are provided by major carriers along with thriving budget airlines. Meanwhile, air flight within Spain is usually expensive, but budget airlines can be an exemption. Therefore, those who want to travel Europe including Spain, would find it easy flying from one destination to another.
And while enjoying the lively culture of Spain and its sunny atmosphere, getting in and out of its destinations can be done through the extensive road network that serves the country. One can even cross borders to Portugal on the west and France to the north through several access points. Some of the roads may not be as good elsewhere but through some financial aids provided by the European Union, travelers may find themselves traversing some of the newest road infrastructures in Spain. Several Bus companies also served most of the towns and cities in its interior.
Aside from Bus linkages, spain is also home to an extensive and well serviced train system that can take you in and out of Spanish cities even to Portugal and France.Meanwhile, traveling to major metropolitan areas such as the capital Madrid and Barcelona would also be convenient as it is served by a modern Metro Network ( Underground railway).
And for those whose interests are traveling the insular territories of spain, inter-island services ply the seas towards the island groups and the two enclaves. A long boat ride of 40 hours from cadiz is also an option. But due to some occasional rough conditions flying to these destinations would be more convenient though more expensive.
